Soaring Together #EagleStrong!
Welcome to Udall USD 463, the heart of Eagle Country! As the proud Superintendent of USD 463, I want to share our strategic focus on supporting student success, engaging our community, and modernizing our district operations to ensure every student thrives.
My commitment to this district is backed by 28 years of educational experience and a deep understanding of the K-12 pipeline. I hold a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education (English/Journalism) from Kansas State University, a Master’s in School Leadership from Baker University, and District-Level Licensure from Newman University. Before moving into administration, I spent 18 years as a High School ELA teacher (9th-12th grade, AP Literature, and Dual Credit Comp I & II) while also serving tenures as a yearbook advisor, NHS advisor, and Senior Sponsor. My administrative background includes serving as a Middle School Assistant Principal & Athletic Director, and later as an Elementary Principal giving me a comprehensive, K-12 perspective on how to build a supportive, culture-driven educational system focusing on student success. Every decision I make is viewed through the lens of an educator, a mentor, and a district leader.
This background guides our work across four key pillars to keep our district moving forward:
Our People: Supporting Student Success & Staff Excellence
Exceptional schools require exceptional staff. We are deeply committed to recruiting, retaining, and supporting our dedicated teachers, coaches, and support staff. Guided by a collaborative and innovative District Leadership Team, we are focused on the KESA school improvement process. This structural focus has led to a proud, continual improvement in our student test scores and ensures we meet the ongoing learning needs of both our students and educators.
Our Culture: Student, Staff, and Community Engagement
Our district motto, "Small Town Pride, Big Opportunities," drives our school spirit. We maintain a strong commitment to all student activities, ensuring robust support for our extracurricular, athletic and fine arts programs. We also take great pride in supporting community traditions that bring us together, including our Back to School Picnic in the Park, annual School Carnival, and Community Service Day.
Our Programs: Preparing Every Eagle for Flight
We are thrilled to enter this school year fully staffed and moving forward with unwavering momentum! We maintain a steadfast support of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, which equip students with real-world skills for future success. Our robust programs include:
- Agriculture / FFA: Cultivating leadership and hands-on agricultural science.
- Hospitality & Community Connections: Developing vital life skills and culinary expertise while implementing programs in both our local and regional communities.
- Business / FBLA: Preparing the next generation of industry leaders.
Our Environment: Safety, Care, and Belonging
Providing a safe, nurturing environment is our top priority. Through targeted facility and operations management, we have made several key improvements to enhance our campuses this year:
- Facility & Fleet Upgrades: Installed new bleachers to support our spectators and added a new van and bus for safe student transport.
- Advanced Security Measures: Upgraded campus safety with new security cameras, a modernized intercom system, and the implementation of the CrisisGo app for emergency readiness.
- Streamlined Communication: Supported the launch of our updated website and parent communication platform through ParentSquare to ensure families stay connected in real-time.
Stay Connected!
To keep our families informed, I publish a weekly District Newsletter that is posted directly to our Facebook page, district webpage, and emailed to all families. Please look for this update each week for stories about our students and staff successes, current announcements, and schedule updates.
Together, we are creating a climate and culture where every student feels a deep sense of safety, care, and belonging. Thank you for your continued partnership as we prepare every Eagle for flight.
